Galaxy Note Fan Edition Will Include Bixby

Bixby is the often mentioned Samsung voice assistant that is struggling to get to launch while Google Assistant is gaining consumer adoption on Android phones. Bixby missed the launch of the Galaxy S8 in April and only became available in a limited early access program in June. Now the Galaxy Note Fan Edition–a post-recall renamed Galaxy Note 7–is threatening to ship with Bixby. It may have Bixby on board but seems unlikely that it will have voice assistant capabilities given the recent limited access program.

Will We Really Hear Bixby at Last?

Well, the Galaxy Note Fan Edition may have Bixby, but if it speaks, it will be in Korean. The Verge is reporting:

Samsung is only manufacturing 400,000 Galaxy Note Fan Edition devices, and the units will only be available in South Korea initially with other markets ‘decided later.’

And, it is not clear how many people will want the device that goes on sale on July 7th. Why? Because Reuters is reporting that a Galaxy Note 8 is due to be launched in August. Bixby or no, will consumers buy a device that will be obsolete in just a month? Caveat emptor.

Voicebot would enjoy reviewing the Bixby voice assistant if someone from Samsung would like to provide a device. Until then, we will look forward to the appearance of Bixby ghost.
