For a Limited Time, Google Home Will be $99

Best Buy isn’t the only retailer to offer the Google Home for $99 this holiday season. The Google Store is also promoting the discount on its smart speaker device which begins tomorrow, November 23rd. Consumers have the option to purchase their Google Home via the Google Store or other third-party retailers like Best Buy, Target and Walmart. And like Best Buy’s promotion, all Google Home purchases made during this time period will include a free 6-month subscription to YouTube Red.

Google is using steep discounts like this one  during the holiday season to challenge Amazon’s dominance in the smart speaker market. The YouTube Red promotion also shows that the company, like Amazon, wants consumers to exclusively use its products and services. Amazon released its own music subscription service earlier this month, Amazon Music Unlimited, with steep discounts for Echo owners.
