GeekWire – HP’s New Tabletop PC Doubles as Smart Home Speaker

GeekWire – PC shipments worldwide have declined 4.5% this year compared to 2015. HP looks to combat this trend with its new Pavilion Wave tabletop computer which includes a smart home speaker with Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant built right in. The Pavilion Wave’s computer is no longer housed in a beige box, but rather in a triangular shaped device with a woven fabric exterior that also functions as a smart home speaker. The speaker has a parabolic reflector that sits atop the device to evenly spread audio throughout a room.

The HP Pavilion Wave will cost $530, a little over ten times what it costs to purchase an Amazon Echo Dot. But it also includes all the functionality of a home desktop computer. HP is betting consumers who are seeking both a new home computer and a smart home speaker will see the Pavilion Wave as the best of both worlds. The new desktop computer went to market on September 16, but no data is available yet on how it was received.  LINK
